Single camera techniques

Potrait shots

wide angled shots

For this we were tasked to take single-shot photos, this being to teach us basic camera angles, like over-the shoulder, wide angles, and close ups. This is are first time with the cameras so some of these aren't as good as they could be, though some of them are pretty good, like the framed shot being quite unique for where we took it
i also like the over the shoulder shot we took, as its tilted slightly, and having her head in shot rather than her shoulder, subverting what the shot should be

American Beauty- dinner Scene

for this project we had to deconstruct and analyses the dinner scene from American beauty, in which a struggling married couple become heated in an argument which escalates to boiling point where a plate in thrown.

pre-production

shot list- the shot list was how we are going to set up the camera for are scene re-creation, showing are knowledge on how shots are set and how they convey it to the audience shot, and how it comes together for the final product.

treatment- the treatment is the pitch of the film, how everything is going to look and what is needed for the production,

the amount of equipment need to be brought, actors and when they need to come in and shot and how much till all cost

story board- the storyboard is how the scene will play out, where the actors will be and hat is needed for the scene, we draw out the character in a rough sketch to show what they would look like

research

this was are analysis on the whole and what parts go into it, stuff like -

mise en scene - how everything is arranged and set up for the shot to be as it is, how colour and costume was chosen and focus on deconstructing a characters whole part in a scene.

cinematography - how everything was hot and the types of shots used, and how they impact the scene and the audiences mood.

editing - how the scene was put together and it anything was added post production, if it had any interesting transitions or character continuity errors.

sound - how sound was used within the scene, if they was any edits to it and added sound, if one sound was diegetic or non-digenic, if any music was used background or otherwise

all of this was for us to understand everything that was going on in scene, breaking it down to it bare bones make us appreciate the smaller details much more

Behind The Scene Images

Behind The Scene Footage

Raw footage

For are footage we did the wide shots first, the first one we did was of Janie entering the scene, then the final one of them eating in silence. We filmed each character twice, we did this so we had 2 takes to choose from if one didn't go well. The takes were about 2-3 minutes long depending if one messed up and had to redo the line. If i were to do this again i would change the lighting as ares was way too bright for a scene like this, i would also insist on using a backdrop, because the white wall and people walking by on the door could be distracting to some, another thing would be a hand tripod, as my hands are naturally shaky so the footage that was of them standing up wasn't as good as it could've been. We did the takes in a very short time, as, i would say, we were Efficient with how we did the takes having them both do 2 takes in the same part of footage, then the other character right after that

demo footage - drama scene

the Test footage was of a noir-drama scene, this edit is very rough as it is my first, (and the footage wouldn't co-operate with me and would constantly look choppy and not load properly so to the best of my abilities i worked with it). this is how I learnt the bare, bare basic of premiere, and even some more semi-advanced parts with the lighting.
